AIT Laboratories Makes Inc. 500/5000 List for Fifth Consecutive Year

AIT Laboratories, a healthcare company which specializes in compliance monitoring, forensics, and pharmaceutical testing, has made the Inc. 500/5000 list for the fifth consecutive year. The magazine, which each year ranks the fastest-growing, private companies in the nation, ranks AIT 958 on this year’s list. In addition, AIT ranks 67th nationally in the health category, making it the second highest ranking Indiana company to make the list. AIT also ranks 17th on the overall list of 60 Indiana companies.

“To make this prestigious list for five consecutive years is a true testament to the hard work of our employees and the exceptional customer service and quality in healthcare support they provide to our clients,” said AIT President and CEO Michael A. Evans, Ph.D.

The Inc. 500/5000 list ranks companies according to percentage revenue growth. AIT has experienced at least double-digit revenue growth every year for the past 10 years. In 2010, AIT’s revenue grew 30 percent. The Indianapolis-based, employee-owned company has nearly 500 employees nationwide, with more than 280 located in Indiana.

In 2009, Evans transferred 100 percent ownership of the company to his employees in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). “Our employees take pride in the company they own, and it shows in their work every day and is certainly reflected in the success that AIT continues to have in the healthcare industry,” added Evans. In 2010, a survey showed that 97.3 percent of its clients rated AIT’s overall products and services as excellent or good.

In June, AIT began moving its business operations (marketing, human resources, billing, finance, client services, etc.) into a new 90,000-square-foot office building on the Indianapolis northwest side near I-465 and 79th Street. Currently, AIT is building a new lab for AIT Bioscience, its pharmaceutical testing division, behind the new office building. Completion of the lab is expected to be in late September. In the next two years, AIT plans to build its new toxicology laboratory, which will serve its compliance monitoring and forensics businesses, adjacent to the AIT Bioscience lab. The company will move the rest of its employees to the new location upon completion of the laboratory. In the meantime, AIT’s toxicology laboratory will remain on the city’s southwest side in Park Fletcher at 2265 Executive Drive.
