INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – AIT Laboratories, which specializes in pain management, forensics, clinical and pharmaceutical testing, has once again rewarded its employees with a net profit sharing bonus. AIT employees are sharing $1 million, which is the second such bonus they have received this year. In June, AIT gave employees $2 million in a surprise mid-year bonus, bringing the total net profit sharing bonus for the year to $3 million. In July, AIT Founder, President and CEO Michael A. Evans, Ph.D. announced that he had transferred ownership of the company to employees as part of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
“We like to reward our employees when the company is profitable,” said Evans. “The employees are the ones responsible for the company being profitable, so it is the right thing to do to have them share in that success.”
In 2009, AIT added more than 170 employees, bringing the total number of employees to more than 365 nationwide. AIT is also expected to see a 75 percent increase in revenues for the year, making this the sixth consecutive year of at least double-digit growth. The company doubled its sales staff during the year and entered more than 15 new markets. In addition, AIT launched AIT Bioscience (www.AITBioscience.com), a bioanalytical contract research organization, led by industry veteran Ronald Shoup, Ph.D.
“AIT is well positioned for 2010. We continue to offer quality testing, good science, and great customer service to our clients, all things that have contributed to our success over the past 19 years,” said Evans.
AIT also understands that giving back to the communities it serves is important. Through its contributions committee, AIT has donated nearly $100,000 this year to various charities throughout central Indiana. “As part of our culture, AIT and its employees understand how blessed we are for our success and why it is important to help others in need,” said Evans. Some of the charities that have benefitted from AIT’s generosity are Best Buddies, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Providence Cristo Rey High School, Riley Children’s Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club.
