  • AIT was founded in March 1990 in Indianapolis, Indiana, as an independent reference laboratory.
  • AIT specializes in compliance monitoring, forensics, clinical, and pharmaceutical testing.
  • In the company’s formative years, AIT lost its biggest client and 85% of its business. Founder, President, and CEO Michael A. Evans, Ph.D. was told to file for bankruptcy.  He said at that moment he understood that he had to go from running a laboratory to running a business.   • AIT has nearly 500 employees nationwide, with more than 270 in Indiana. In 2005, AIT had 71 employees.
  • AIT added more than 100 employees in 2010; nearly 180 employees in 2009; 90 employees in 2008; and 60 employees in 2007.
  • More than 17 percent of AIT employees have joined the company due to referrals from other employees.

Technology 

  • AIT prides itself on being a science-based, technology-driven company.
  • AIT uses a variety of instruments, including the Aeroset, GC/MS, LC/MS, UPLC-MS/MS, UPLC coupled with Time-of-Flight (ToF) mass spectrometry.
  • AIT first started using LC/MS technology in 2001 and has more than 100 years of combined intellectual experience using LC/MS.
  • AIT can identify all drug substances in just one test using UPLC coupled with ToF mass spectrometry.
  • AIT owns one of the largest spectral library databases of compounds in North America using ToF mass spectrometry.

Culture

  • AIT sponsors a Contributions Committee that supports efforts in the areas of community outreach, fundraising, collection of donations, and raising awareness.
