AIT Ranks 119 on Training Magazine’s Top 125 List

2011-02-10

AIT is proud to announce that the company ranked 119 on Training magazine’s Top 125 list. Training magazine, the leading business publication for learning and development professionals, puts out an annual Top 125 list, which ranks companies’ excellence in employer-sponsored training and development programs.

“This is the first year we have applied for this honor and are ecstatic to be ranked among the global elite,” said Training Coordinator Kathy Lee. “We have always been proud of our training and development programs, but this provides external recognition and shows that AIT is, once again, a leader.”

Top 125 winners are determined based on the following criteria:

  • Total training budget
  • Percentage of payroll
  • Number of training hours per employee program
  • Goals, evaluation, measurement, and workplace surveys
  • Hours of training per employee annually
  • Detailed formal programs

The rankings for the 125 leading organizations were unveiled during an awards gala at the Training 2011 Conference & Expo, held February 7 in San Diego, CA. Lee and Training and Development Specialist Rose Arant are in attendance.

The ranking is determined by assessing a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs, and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.

AIT offers employees many training options, including the Training Within Industry (TWI) certification from Purdue University’s Technical Assistance Program/Manufacturing Extension Partnership (TAP/MEP). TWI uses existing training methodologies to improve quality, increase transfer of knowledge, and heighten employee engagement. New employees to AIT undergo an extensive three-day training session to learn about all aspects of the business. Managers and supervisors are also involved in the company’s Leadership Development Program. The initiative includes book forums, a blog, and a variety of classes.

In addition, the company invites leaders in the community to speak to the group to provide insights into their leadership success. Speakers have included Butler University Men’s Basketball Coach Brad Stevens, Indiana Pacers Sports & Entertainment President Jim Morris, Indianapolis Urban League President and CEO Joseph Slash, Indiana Sports Corporation President Susan Williams, Marian University President Dan Elsener, and Baker & Daniels Partner Melina Kennedy.
